We have been invited to a Summer Art Event at Dacre Hall. It is located in Cumbria and hosts three events per year, popular with locals and visitors alike.
The hall is providing refreshments throughout the week and are open 10am to 5pm every day. The entrance cost is £1.00, and you can visit from Friday 18th July through until 5pm on Monday 28th July 2025.
Dacre Hall is reputed to be the oldest village hall in England and forms part of the Lanercost Priory, set in the beautiful Irthing valley, just 2 miles from Brampton and close to Hadrian’s Wall.
The Priory buildings including the Dacre Hall itself were all completed by 1169.
After the dissolution of the monasteries, Thomas Dacre remodelled the Dacre Hall and Tower as his own private residence in the 14th-15th Century.
Edward I resided there and reputedly Elizabeth I ascented to the throne while staying in The Priory.
Dacre Hall has some of the most important surviving examples of mid-sixteenth- century wall painting, albeit only traces in part and the hall itself is part of what was originally a single long room where the Dacre family would have entertained in style.
The separate supper room has new kitchen facilities and plenty of room for the serving of refreshments.
