We are Amanda and Alison, we started our creative journey in 2016 and have worked with driftwood, sea glass, wood and textiles before discovering the beauty of fused glass and clay, both mediums that allows endless possibilities in terms of creativity. All of our work is inspired by the local scenery, from rugged coastlines to the rolling moorlands.
Drift Glass & Ceramics can be found in galleries across Northumberland and the Scottish Borders. We also sell our fused glass art and ceramic pottery at Festivals and Art Events as well as Online.
At Drift Glass & Ceramics we offer a wide range of fused glass art and ceramics for the home and garden. Perfect for yourself or as a special gift. The most popular pieces can be found in our Etsy shop https://fusedglassdriftworks.etsy.com whereas our larger and more unique pieces are sold via our shop on this website. You can also ask us about commissions (our commission diary is open from January to July).
At Drift Glass & Ceramics each piece is individually handmade and fired in a kiln, the process itself takes anywhere between 15 and 24 hours to allow for the design, creation and firing of the item. Some products take 2 or 3 firings, making the process even more time consuming!
Patience is required and you can literally get lost in the process, making this form of art extremely therapeutic and good for the mind and soul.
During an early Art Festival we found many customers stopping by and smiling at our art work, this made us realise that we created "art to make you smile". We continue with this ethos in much of our work, creating quirky and fun pieces well as our other more mainstream art.
We strive to keep our work fresh and are always looking to see what new ideas we can work with in both fused glass and art and ceramic pottery.
At Drift Glass & Ceramics we offer a range of fused glass art workshops, so you can create your own piece of art work! We run sessions at various locations across Northumberland for groups of up to 8 adults.
These sessions last for 3 hours and are great for a few hours of creativity, a fun get together with a group of friends or even a work event.
Take a look at our dates and venues and book your place.
